Golden Agave

AGAVE-SWEETENED FLAN

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup agave syrup, divided
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, heat 1/2 cup agave syrup until it darkens slightly. Pour into a 9-inch round baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, remaining 1/2 cup agave syrup, vanilla, and salt.
  4. Pour mixture over caramelized agave in the baking dish.
  5. Place dish in a larger pan filled with 1 inch of hot water.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes until set but still jiggly in the center.
  7. Cool, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
